No. Pistil works as a standalone soft synth, in addition to pairing with Orchid.

A new dark interface, with an on-screen keyboard that now matches the keys on Orchid. Vertical faders have been replaced with dials and horizontal sliders, whichever suits each parameter. Oscillators, envelopes, LFOs, modulators and effects now sit in their own sections, and all MIDI and audio settings live in one Options menu. A few things were renamed along the way: "Keyboard" is now "Global", "Treble" is now "Chord" to match Orchid, and "Reed Piano" is now "E Piano".

Yes, it comes with 70 Orchid presets crafted by Kevin Parker ready for you to edit in your own image.

Orchid V is a chord-based virtual songwriting instrument. Pistil is a sound design softsynth. Orchid V uses the sound library crafted with Pistil, while Pistil gives you the editor for deeper sound design explorations. Pistil is included with any Orchid V purchase.
